My time as a politician…

I have been a Town and District Councillor for the Green Party from 2021-2023, and decided not to stand for election again, due, in short, to ableism. I have faced discrimination, smear tactics, and was not allowed to vote or speak at meetings because I could not attend in person. Please make your voice heard. Write to your political representative and tell them you care about fair, diverse, and representative politics. Ask them what they are doing to make sure the voices of the most vulnerable are heard, and together hopefully we can inspire a more inclusive system where disabled politicians are valued rather than forced out!

I'm disappointed that so much of my time as a councillor has been spent battling against discrimination. This is just one symptom of our failing governmental system.
